Any place but Portland

So, this whole downtown streetcar idea is getting some momentum. I like the idea of streetcars, once again, running from Downtown to the Tower District. I'm a little worried that there won't be enough people living downtown by '09 to put it to proper use, buuut...we'll get there, and this will help.

Here's the problem, we're sending people to check out Portland's light rail. Portland huh? Damn, Fresnans have a big hard-on for Portland. Couldn't we have gone to some other rail city? I mean, after the titanic nerd-blog-battle, it just doesn't seem right.

Sure, lets get some streetcar action happening. But, why do we have to look like Portland's nerdy little bitch to do it?

Crazy good idea for Downtown

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

As Jarah enjoys more parting shots at Fresno, and Downtown River Walks fail to empress, Regge Minnitte has a cool idea for Downtown: Bring back the 30s street cars.

No, not those buses that TRY to look like streetcars...FUCKIN' STREETCARS.

They could have a route through Downtown and Tower District. Then they could link up with the rest of the city through our future light rail - we'll get one someday.

I know the idea is a little out there, but it's original and authentic - man that authentic thing is catchy Craig.

Futlon Mall Skate Park

Fresno's Fulton Mall is dead at night ... right? Well, yeah it is. You know it's dead when dudes can do this without a security guard tellin' them to beat it.

Bakersfield and Fresno share downtown struggles

Sounds like Gaylen Young is talking about downtown Fresno instead of Bakersfield in this video posted by Bakersfield blogger Nick Belardes.

I wonder if the City Council would like to drop yet another 50K and study downtown some more after watching the Bako video.

Stop studing and start doing!

Parker has a death wish

Is this just a simple mascot stunt for opening night of the Fresno Grizzlies season, or is it a cry for help from a suicidal bear? You decide as you watch Fresno Grizzlies mascot, Parker, come in for a landing after jumping out of an airplane above Downtown Fresno.

Demand Deftones, Fresno

Fresno's dueling arenas has given us, in the centered city, a bounty of shows as big as Madonna's vagi...special place. But, being in the same state as Los A, SD, Sac Town and "The City", Fresnans can still get passed over for a good concert.

Before the internet, we were powerless to change that. Now, we can Demand shows. This new website organizes your demands and does something with them. What it actually does with them I'm not sure...probably nothing. In fact, it may just be some underhanded marketing scheme by Ticketmaster. But hey, it feels like you're doing something.

I've joined the demanded for the Deftones to come back. Now, if I could only demand Rage Against the Machine to play Selland instead of Coachella, I would happily pay those Ticketmaster bastards their "juice".
Demand it!

Fresno Famous Dorks

Not only can Fresno State students now download podcasts of class lectures and Fresno State news, they - and everybody else in the world - will soon be able to download Jarah Euston and Joshua Tehee's appearance on the Dorktown Podcast.

Jarah and Josh are scheduled to be on Dorktown - Episode 38 - Saturday night. The podcast should be ready for download very late Saturday night. I think all Famous Folks know what will be major a topic.

Owning a Downtown Fresno Bar is Scary

It's lookin' like Downtown Fresno bar Fagans is closing. Go check out Mike Oz's blog at the Fresno Beehive for the details.

You'll find an open letter by the owner of Fagan's explaining what has gone wrong. It will scare the shit out of you if you're thinking of opening up a Fresno resturant. Check out some of what she says:

"I never imagined how much theft goes on (like bartenders who gave away free drinks, for better tips) (waitress's who thought money should go into their pockets ,rather than the cash drawer) (Customers who skipped out on paying)

I never imagined the volume of people who think because I am downtown, I should gives away everything for free or next to free. How many people tried to bring in their own food and beverage.or come in, just for Free water with Lemons ,Cherries and Straws (like we could pay the PGE on that) How bazaar !

Downtown Workers who felt food items should be under $5. and then try and split a $5.00 meal.(asking for extra bread ) Because they felt because it's downtown ,it should be cheaper !"
