WIFFLEBALL - IT'S NOT JUST FOR KIDS...IT'S ALSO FOR NERDS

 A QUITE CHAMPION

Sunday, there was no beer shower or walk-off homerun, but there was a new champion.

Fresno's new wiffleball champion is Lance and his Cedar team.  I'm sure his hometown in New Jersey will be having a parade for him real soon.

It didn't come easy for Lance.  He had to go through 2005's champion and an undefeated player to do it.

Here is how the three game day, broke down:

GAME ONE: (2)LOS vs. (3)C

Both players were able to throw strikes but unfortunately for C, Los hit more of his over the fence.  Dayton's "Lay It Down" was left to watch in the on-deck circle as C strikes out with a runner on.  Los and his D'wood team win 5-2.  Los moves on to championship game.

GAME TWO: (1)LANCE vs. (4)BELLS

A rematch of last years championship game.  This one plays out very much like last year (Bells leads 1-0 in the bottom of the last inning because of an earlier homer), only this time Lance is able to break through Bells and his closer "Ace Of Spades" with a double and a lot of walks.  Lance wins 2-1 and advances to the championship game.  Video of the game is HERE.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:  (1)LANCE vs. (2)LOS

First time these players have ever faced each other one-on-one.  Both players play a very tight game and stay at 0-0 through six innings.  Los breaks through with a run in the top of the seventh.  Unfortunately for Los, he is unable to throw strikes in the bottom and Lance win the championship for the first time.  Cedar  2  D'wood  1, check out the video from this game HERE.
