Raw, Live, Eddie, Fresno

When only a few people are reading your blog, it really gives you room to write about what you want. Two of my favorite topics are Van Halen and Fresno, and when I can find something that combines the two:

If you go to My Space at all, check this out the next time you go. Hell, how 'bout going now: Eddie Van Halen in Fresno

What you're checking out is Eddie Van Halen, playing his signature solo, Eruption, at a 1978 show. This must be from their first national tour. I don't know if it is Selland Arena or what, just enjoy like I did and reflect back on a time when Eddie gave a shit about his fans.

Appointment Radio

No, I don't work for New Rock 104.1, but, I do occasionally listen to it. And I will definitely be listening to it at 10:00 am Monday. That's when New Rock will be playing the new Tool song - they've been talking about it all weekend.

I miss this kind of thing - making an event from some new song or album coming out.

I don't know if it's just me but, it feels like, there once was more drama surrounding new songs and albums getting released. Going to the "The Warehouse" at midnight on Monday nights was a regular thing. Whether it was to get the new Van Halen disc or Pearl Jam, it almost didn't matter. Ya just needed an excuse to be there getting a new album and being the first person in town to listen to the whole thing.

Maybe it's still prevalent: going to Tower Records, midnight on Mondays, getting a new album before anyone else. Or, radio stations leaking new songs off an album, before it's released. I might just be out of touch and it's going on just as much as it use too, it's just not "my" bands that are involved.

Hell, I've been waiting for an opportunity to get a new studio album from Van Halen for, like, ten years now so, out of touch I just may be.

Dorktown Invades Fresno Radio

Poor poor Devoya, she is far too trusting. She is letting a dork who only knows how to Podcast, take control of her wonderful Fresno radio show.

I'll be guest hosting for Devoya Mayo and I don't know what I'm doing so it might be a "train wreck" sorta deal - you should listen!

Claudia Arguelles from Fresno Flimworks will be the guest on Move on Up Friday night @ 7:00 on 88.1 KFCF.

Mike Martz Bugging People About Fresno State

Former Rams coach Mike Martz was in town recently, as reported by fine Fresno Bee writer David White, talkin' with Fresno State folks about his Fresno ties (former Bullard coach) and being part of the Bulldog "crew" (former player).

"I always make sure my team knows what Fresno State has done," Martz said. "To come back and see the buildings and where it's gone from since I played here … it's spectacular. I tell people their colors are red, white and blue: America's team."

Coach, it's great that you're talking up Fresno State and all, around the league, but the next time, could you not bring up the "red, white and blue: America's team" thing? It's kind of hokey.
Talking about Coach Hill's fumanchu would even be better than that. How 'bout all the NFL players Fresno produces? Somethin' other than the teams freakin' colors.

Being Ram fans, we still love ya here in Dorktown and we kind of miss you coaching the Rams...WAIT, TIMEOUT TIMEOUT! That's not true, have fun in Detroit. I just hope they don't let you call the timeouts for them.
