Time for underage parties is now, Fresnans

If you are of legal drinking age, you've got to throw a party this weekend. Invite all the 18 to 20 year-olds you know, then serve them as much beer as you can. You might think you were doing something illegal, but you'd be thinking incorrectly.

Apparently it is perfectly legal, but not for long. The Fresno City Council is voting to close a loophole in state law that allows adults to poor drinks to 18 to 20 year-olds, as long as it's in private. Since when is Fresno in the business of changing state laws?

Foolish me, I just assumed that a person 21 or older, giving booze to anyone who wasn't, was already illegal. Damn, I could have been throwin' keg-standing-past-out-girls-hurling-boys-raggers this whole time and it would have been perfectly on the up-and-up. It's not like I really know anyone 18 to 20 - especially girls - but still, would've been nice to know.

As Councilman Tom Boyajian said about the closed loophole, "How would you even enforce this?"

Are they gonna start sending in undercover cops to parties? Kinda like they already have outside of bars? I smell an episode of 21-Jumpstreet.
